Coronavirus statement

Due to the Covid-19 situation, the Samson Inn is now closed until further notice

Update – 3rd June 2020

We hope that everyone is keeping well in these strange times! There has been a lot of uncertainty around the easing of lockdown rules and it doesn’t look like there will be much more clarity for a while so we thought we should give an update with our thoughts about when we might reopen the Samson.

We have had a virtual meeting with staff and agreed that before reopening we would like to be confident of the following:

  1. The risk of covid-19 infection to our staff, customers and wider community is very low.
  2. There is an appetite from the village and wider community for us welcoming visitors back into the area.
  3. The social distancing guidelines mean that we can open in a way that is practical for our building and pleasant for our staff and customers.

In reality, we don’t expect this to be the case until August, although this may change. It may be that we could have a ‘soft’ reopening with, for example, self-check-in for B&B guests and takeaway food available on certain evenings.

However, the situation is obviously very complex and could change very quickly, in which case we will reassess our position.

In the meantime, we hope you are all well and we look forward to opening our doors and welcoming you all to the pub again once it is safe and comfortable.
